The Control Room

Actual Synths

The studio is home to almost 40 vintage hardware synths, culled from Craig’s collection that at one time numbered well over a hundred, collected since 1978. Many of those keyboards were sampled by Craig before they left, and he’ll be releasing a VST multi-instrument once he has some time in his schedule. It’s liable to be a while.

A nice selection of owner’s and repair manuals has been put online by Craig, all of which are free to download. If one is on the list, but not available, send Craig an email, and he’ll scan it for you.

Software

Multitrack software includes Nuendo, Reaper, Vegas, and Samplitude, as well as hundreds of plugins covering soundscapes, orchestras, software synths, and other utilities.

Hardware

From the most coveted compressors, reverbs, and preamps, all the way to forgotten pieces that do just one thing, but do it well, a panoply of options come to bear.

Instructions for building your own sound treatment panels have been made available by Craig, based on his own design, as well as on research by the BBC.
